Fears over FRDI Bill misplaced: Govt

Unquestionable Remedy
The National Medical Commission Bill was first proposed in the year 2016 and aims at overhauling the corrupt and inefficient Medical Council of India. The recently passed decision of the Lok Sabha to forward the National Medical Commission Bill to a proper standing committee for a relook into it is a definite correct one. The Medical Council of India which regulates the medical education and practice in India. One of the goals of the NMC Bill is to rein in corruption in the Medical Council of India through proper distribution of powers. This goal can be achieved through a proper independent Medical Advisory Council which oversees the National Medical Commission, which is the proposed successor of the MCI. The shortfall of the MBBS doctors in the field is due to the fact that many of them go for a postgraduate degree to improve prospective career prospects. There is much scope for the MBBS doctors as well as the nurses in the field. However, integrating the alternative medicine theory into the modern medicine requires a lot of thought and policies. It is for the Government to work well and empower the existing doctors before introducing any new experiment.
